Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a surprise visit to China’s Beijing on Sunday. It has been reported that he visited China to meet the country’s top official to roll out Full Self-Driving software and permission to transfer data overseas.

His trip to the country came at the time when he was scheduled to arrive in India to discuss Tesla’s operation. He was all set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and was expected to share his investment plan in the country.

The top businessman canceled his trip to New Delhi, citing “very heavy Tesla obligations” as the reason for scrapping his plans.

2024 Beijing Motor Show?

The ongoing Beijing Motor Show is also one of the reasons for his visit as Tesla has been in sales there for a decade now. It has been reported that Musk is likely to witness the ongoing auto show in Beijing today. It will go on until May 4.

Tesla’s Data Security Tests in Beijing

Meanwhile, as per the details shared by Investor’s Bussiness Daily, the top EV maker has somehow cleared Beijing’s data security tests. The news has been shared by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. It was announced shortly after Musk finished his meeting with China Premier Li Qiang.

The report also suggested that the country’s local authorities have lifted the restrictions on Tesla’s models from certain areas.
