Hanoi, August 28, 2026: Vietnam is seeking deeper investment from major technology companies as it attempts to strengthen its artificial intelligence and semiconductor industries.

Vietnamese leaders have urged companies including Qualcomm and Samsung to expand investment and technological cooperation in the country.

The government is seeking to position Vietnam as an increasingly important technology and manufacturing hub in Asia.

The semiconductor industry has become strategically important as countries compete to secure supply chains for chips used in smartphones, vehicles, data centres and artificial intelligence systems.

Vietnam is attempting to leverage its existing manufacturing ecosystem while developing higher-value technology capabilities.

The push also comes as companies diversify their manufacturing and supply chains across Asia amid increasing geopolitical competition between major economies.
