A team from Assam Police arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday to investigate the controversial YouTube show India’s Got Latent after an FIR was filed by the Guwahati Crime Branch.
The case has been registered against popular YouTubers and influencers—Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others—who are accused of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions.
The investigation follows a formal complaint filed by Alok Boruah, alleging inappropriate remarks about child-parent relationships and the display of obscene acts on a public platform.
Guwahati joint commissioner of police Ankur Jain on Tuesday said, “We are currently working with YouTube and are in the process of obtaining that particular video, which has been taken down. Once it is done, our teams will be dispatched to Bombay, where they will take the necessary actions.”
The controversy erupted after an episode of India’s Got Latent, where Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, made sexual remarks with overtones about parents in front of a contestant.
This sparked a wave of outrage on social media, with critics accusing the creators of crossing ethical lines. In response to the backlash, Allahbadia issued an apology, acknowledging his comments as inappropriate and unfunny, and confirmed the removal of the segment.
The Guwahati Crime Branch registered the case based on the complaint from Boruah. Assam’s joint commissioner of police, Ankur Jain, confirmed that the police are in touch with YouTube to retrieve the now-deleted video.
Once obtained, teams will travel to Mumbai for further action. The complaint accuses the YouTubers of making offensive statements and spreading vulgar content.

In parallel, Mumbai Police have visited the residence of Allahbadia as part of their investigation on Tuesday. Despite no FIR being filed yet, Khar Police are actively probing the matter, with DCP (Zone IX) Dikshit Gedam assuring that the investigation is underway.:

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized the need for accountability, stating that freedom of speech should not infringe upon others’ rights.
