India’s largest private sector lender, HDFC Bank has appointed former economic affairs secretary Atanu Chakraborty as its next chairman.
The board of HDFC Bank cleared Chakraborty’s name for the position of part-time chairperson of the bank in its meeting held on Monday.
Now, RBI has to approve the appointment submitted by HDFC Bank on 28th December,2020.
Shyamala Gopinath
Shyamala Gopinath is the current Chairman of HDFC Bank whose Tenure will end on January 1, 2021.
He is been appointed and served the position from January 2, 2015.
Qualification of Chakraborty
Chakraborty is an Indian Administrative Services officer of the Gujarat cadre.
He has completed postgraduate diploma in business finance.
He is also a MBA which he completed from the UK.
Experience
He has more than 22 years of experience working in various central and state government departments, including revenue, finance, home, water resources and education as well as public sector undertakings.
He was the Managing Director and Executive Director of Gujarat State Petronet Ltd from November 6, 2014 to April 11, 2016.
He also served in the districts of Vadodara and Sabarkantha and was collector of Amreli.
Chakraborty has now retired as the Economic Affairs Secretary in April.
