Shillong, August 28, 2026: Meghalaya has launched a digital marketplace designed to connect cash-crop farmers with buyers, aggregators and transportation providers.
The platform, known as Meghalaya Mandi, aims to reduce barriers between producers and markets by providing a digital channel through which agricultural products can reach potential buyers.
The initiative is expected to be particularly relevant for farmers producing high-value crops and commodities that require better market access.
Digital marketplaces can potentially improve price discovery, reduce dependence on intermediaries and make logistics coordination easier.
For a state where agriculture plays an important role in rural livelihoods, improving market connectivity could provide significant economic benefits.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to integrate technology with Meghalaya’s agricultural economy and improve opportunities for farmers.
