Comedian Samay Raina has come under intense scrutiny after his YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent’ was slammed for an inappropriate comment made by guest judge Ranveer Allahbadia. Following widespread condemnation, Raina deleted all videos of the show from his YouTube channel and issued a public apology, saying that the controversy had become “too much to handle.” Raina wrote, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”

Raina’s Gujarat show cancelled: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has claimed that Raina’s upcoming shows in Gujarat have been cancelled following public outcry. The VHP cited the crass nature of the remarks made on “India’s Got Latent” as the reason behind the cancellation, and tickets for Raina’s April shows were reportedly pulled from sale on the online platform BookMyShow.

Why is Ranveer Allahbadia under fire and what is the entire controversy all about? The controversy began with a widely condemned question asked by Allahbadia on Samay Raina’s YouTube show, “India’s Got Latent.” During the episode, Allahbadia asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to stop it forever?” Till now, multiple FIRs have been filed against Raina, Allahbadia, and other figures involved in the show, including comedian Ashish Chanchlani, actor Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija. Despite Allahbadia’s apology where he admitted that his comment was “inappropriate, unfunny, and a lapse in judgment,” the damage has been done.
