This is why Train services hit between Thane and Panvel

Maharashtra news: The Central Railway on Tuesday announced that all the trains between Thane and Panvel stations have been significantly affected due to an issue with an overhead equipment at Nerul station.

It further added that maintenance teams are on-site. They are working to resolve the issue and restore normal train operations as quickly as possible.

Passengers have also been advised to check for updates and consider alternative travel arrangements until the situation is rectified, the statement added.

In August 2024, several other trains were cancelled for line extension work in Mumbai. Around 130-140 trains would be cancelled each Saturday, for around five days. Weekdays are expected to be less worrisome, as there would be fewer cancellations.

Train news: Kalindi Express Derail

In other news, there was an attempt to derail the Kalindi Express on September 9, 2024. One LPG cylinder was placed on the tracks in Kanpur’s Shivrajpur area, said the police. The train was heading towards Bhiwani from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.

Elaborating on the accident, police said further, train hit the cylinder before coming to a screeching halt on Sunday morning. Due to being hit by the train, the cylinder was thrown away from the tracks. The police discovered a bottle of petrol, matchboxes and a suspicious bag containing gunpowder-like substance from the site.

Train news: Vande Bharat expansion

BJP leader and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jamshedpur on September 15 and flag off the Vande Bharat train.

In a post on X, Chouhan wrote, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit Jamshedpur on 15th September. Along with the gift of Vande Bharat train, he will deposit the first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the accounts of 1 lakh 13 thousand 195 poor people.”

The new services will connect Tatanagar to Patna, Deoghar to Varanasi, and Tatanagar to Berhampur (Odisha).
